As an English and Journalism double major at the University of Iowa, I developed a strong foundation in writing across a wide range of styles, from straightforward journalistic reporting to analytical essays on classic literature. This experience sharpened my ability to communicate clearly and adapt my voice to different audiences. I carried those skills into my role as Creative Branding Director at The Java House, where I wrote copy for everything from social media campaigns to product descriptions, ensuring each piece aligned with the brand’s voice and connected with its audience.

Have you ever wondered why the door of our Downtown location is red?
Owner Tara Cronbaugh created Java House with the help of her dad David, who had a passion for good coffee. David left a huge impact on the Java House culture from our iconic pour over bar to our vintage furniture and homey atmosphere.
One day in the early hours of the morning, David was absolutely convinced that the front door of the Downtown location NEEDED to be red. Much to his daughter’s dismay, he painted the door and then went off the grid for a few days to avoid her phone calls.
After David passed away in 2017, Tara and the Java House team knew that they wanted to honor his legacy. This is how our espresso roast became known as “David’s Red Door Espresso”.
His memory exists in the very foundation of Java House. This Father’s Day, we are proud to celebrate him and all dads everywhere. Happy Father’s day!
