About Me
Education
I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2019 with BFAs in English (Publishing Track) and Journalism & Mass Communications. Early in my studies, I developed a strong passion for graphic design and intentionally shaped my coursework to support that interest.
I became involved in several campus literary magazines, where I honed my design skills in real-world editorial settings. I’m especially proud of being a founding member of Zenith, where I served as Creative Director. Over the course of four print issues, I led the design team and was responsible for laying out work from contributors across the world; an experience that deepened both my technical skills and my commitment to thoughtful, collaborative design.
Get to Know Me
I grew up near Des Moines and lived in Iowa until 2025, when my roommate and I made the move to Chicago.
I have a cat named Beatrice and she is the light of my life. She has that unmistakable orange cat energy and loves keeping me up at night, but honestly, she can do no wrong in my eyes.
In my free time, I love to read, mostly fiction, though I occasionally dip into historical non-fiction. I’m currently rereading Emma by Jane Austen and just finished Bunny by Mona Awad.
Another passion of mine is film photography. My dream is to one day have an in-home darkroom. There’s something incredibly satisfying about physically crafting a photograph, from loading the film and developing the negatives to printing them by hand on an enlarger.
Work Experience
After graduating, I joined Java House, a local coffee shop chain in Iowa City with five locations, as a member of the graphics team. My initial responsibilities included creating promotional content for in-store signage and digital marketing campaigns, managing our Instagram and Facebook accounts, and photographing new beverage launches.
About nine months into the role, I was promoted to Creative Branding Director. In this expanded position, I continued my original duties while also taking on new responsibilities such as designing branded merchandise, managing and editing the company website, and helping to streamline our mobile and in-store ordering platforms.
